BBQ Chicken Drumsticks
Chicken drumsticks can be a pretty easy dinner. It can also be cheap. I typically buy drumsticks from Costco- along with my other meat. Checkout my blog post Costco Trip blog post for a rundown of the meat I buy for a 2-3 month period.
How This Chicken Drumsticks Dinner is Easy & Cheap!
A couple of the ways I keep this chicken drumsticks dinner cheap is by buying cheap ingredients- sometimes in bulk- in order to keep the costs down. When I say "cheap", I don't mean that they are terrible in quality- like most of the meat at Walmart. I buy ingredients that can be considered a range of healthiness, at a reasonable price. Some of the things I buy are Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce- it's usually store brand Stovetop Stuffing, can green beans, store brand frozen veggies can be really affordable too! Carbs like pastas, stuffing
Ingredients
- 6 chicken drumsticks (1 package)
- 1 cup of your favorite Honey BBQ sauce- I typically buy Sweet Baby Ray's Honey BBQ sauce.
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat to 350 degrees.
- Add salt and pepper to only the drumstick
- Using a silicone brush, coat the drumsticks with BBQ sauce
- Place a small square of butter on each stick.
- Cook for 35 minutes, when there is 15 minutes left, flip the drumsticks over.

List of 7 Fabulous Side Dishes for BBQ Chicken Drumsticks
- Stovetop Stuffing (1 box is less than $2 at my grocery stores) Plus makes interesting leftovers with chopped, reheated pork
- Garlic Pasta: Kyler is the one who named his favorite side dish. It is so simple! Melt 2 tbs butter in a pan and mix with a splash of milk, salt, pepper and a lot of garlic. As you mix in the pasta, also add in Parmesan cheese or a light amount of Mexican Blend cheese. You only need enough to make the pasta stick together.
- Can of Green Beans- add a little flair to these green beans by heating them up with some salt, pepper, garlic and butter! If you use frozen green beans (which is a great option too!) you can add a little bit of water to the pot, then steam the beans with the garlic and butter.
- Mashed Potatoes- Boil some russet or sweet potatoes and make them mashed potatoes! Once you drain the boiled potatoes, melt 2 TBS of butter, add minced garlic and chopped onion, salt and pepper. Add the potatoes back to the pot, add 2 TBS of butter and a splash of milk and mash it to your desired mash.
- Riced Cauliflower
- Oven-roasted Mixed Veggies: carrots, onions, red and yellow potatoes, garlic, drizzled with olive oil and seasoned with salt, pepper and paprika $1
